Simmo’s Ice Cream in Exmouth

Simmo’s Ice Cream is well known to all in the Dunsborough and South West region. But lately in Exmouth we have been lucky enough to have the Simmo’s Ice Cream van parked up for our July Holiday tourist season.

It is linked up to a caravan and it is doing the North West rounds, currently parked next to the Exmouth Visitor Centre. The car park is heaving with tourists, locals and work crews all getting a lick of the good stuff.

It won’t be there long so make the most of the wonderful flavours of Simmo’s Ice Cream whilst you still can.

Road Closures and Freaky Weather

Well 14 days in Exmouth over Christmas and New Year were just not enough. We were the lucky ones who flew into Exmouth this year. Unfortunately for all out guests (except for a brave few) who were travelling from south of Perth. Their bookings into their Christmas Holiday Homes in Exmouth were sadly cancelled as the roads were still closed in parts through Carnarvon after their recent flooding. One intrepid booking wasn’t going to be deterred however and he drove an extra 900km through Newman on the inland road to get to his destination Exmouth. Well done!

Then there was the pending cyclone…that never occured and barely dropped a glass a rain on us. Although there were cloudy and windy days, it was still all temperatures over 40 degrees! And the humidity nearly drenched me! I will need to toughen up so I am told. Lucky the beaches were just as perfect as they always are and the water just as gorgeous.

Somethings will always be the same in Exmouth.

Wishing you all the best for 2011.

Do you own a holiday home in Exmouth?

I’ll get right to the point. The enthusiasm I have for the growth of our holiday service is gnawing away at me as I reluctantly turn away holiday makers unable to secure quality accommodation in Exmouth.

All of our wonderful homes have become perenial favourites, with re-bookings now occuring for 2011 from happy customers. We need more homes to offer our holiday makers.

We offer a different service to our guests and owners…that is…we actually offer a service! Personal old fashioned service. With real folk at the end of the line, offering advice and matching the perfect home to the perfect guest.

We involve our home owners in all aspects of their property bookings, encourage our owners to holiday as much as they like in their own homes and we keep the whole process open and honest.

Holiday Home Owners!! If you are looking for a different approach to how your holiday home is rented to our wonderful guests then please call me for a chat. We need more homes for all our 2011 enquiries now.

The Bluebone Story

This town is a tourist mecca and a beatiful place but, apart from all that, like any small town it also has its fair share of local characters……

One of these has pindan dust in his veins and goes into withdrawal if removed from the Pilbara for more than 24 hours. He also is a very accomplished fisherman and like any accomplished fisherman has no shortage of fishing stories…..

This is his Bluebone story…

There is a secret spot (if we told you where it is we would have to kill you) where this particular person fishes for bluebone and recently hooked up a monster fish. He was fishing with a light line and determined to bring this fish in, fought and fought for such a long time that by the time he got the fish ashore (it was a 76 cm. monster) he was exhausted and he lay flat on his back in the dirt to recover from the effort, uttering a few expletives at the same time!!

Next thing an American voice said “My Gawd, what a monster fish” it seems an American couple had witnessed the entire battle and this bloke (who is not particularly robust) bringing this huge fish ashore….what a story they will have to relate about their Exmouth experience.
